Seminar highlights services of late Nawab of Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The Department of History at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) conducted a one-day seminar to commemorate the 60th death anniversary of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V (1904–1966), the last Amir of Bahawalpur and a founding benefactor of Pakistan.

According to an official press release issued here, on this occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran said that living nations always remember their leaders and make their golden achievements a beacon of light. “Nations that forget their leaders stray from their destination and never succeed,” he said, adding that Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi, the late Nawab of Bahawalpur was a benefactor of Pakistan who played a prominent role in the establishment and stability of the newly born state of Pakistan.

“He was a far-sighted ruler and the progress and success of the state of Bahawalpur in the social, economic and educational fields is a clear proof of this,” he said, adding that similarly, his steps in public welfare work are still considered very exemplary.

Dr. Samia Khalid, Chairperson of the Department of History was the key speaker and shared a detailed presentation regarding the State of Bahawalpur and Nawab Sahibs services. Dr. Safia Siddiqui conducted the seminar and talked about the humane and futuristic aspects of the personality of Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Abbassi.

The chief guest of the seminar was the Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages, Prof Dr. Amir Sohail and he shared his valuable thoughts on this occasion, the remembrance of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad khan Abbasi and lessons to be learned from his life.
