Seminar at Chenab college highlights awareness on preventable deaths

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) An awareness seminar was organized at Chenab College on the occasion of World Preventable Death Awareness Day to highlight the causes of preventable deaths and promote precautionary measures among the youth. The informative event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Ayesha Rizwan and Dr Naveed Atif as special guests. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Rasool, Principal Farrukh Shahzad Khan, DO Emergency Tahira Khan, along with teachers and students, actively participated in the seminar.

During the well-organized session, participants were thoroughly briefed about various diseases, road accidents and other factors leading to preventable deaths. Furthermore, experts explained precautionary measures and practical steps that individuals and communities can adopt to reduce such fatalities. Speakers emphasized that awareness, timely treatment and responsible behavior can significantly minimize avoidable loss of life.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan warmly appreciated the impressive articles written by students of Chenab College on the issue of preventable deaths. Moreover, she stated that the district administration is consistently working to reduce fatalities caused by accidents and natural disasters through improved response systems and public awareness initiatives.

Similarly, DPO Dr Naveed Atif said that many deaths around the world occur due to delayed treatment or lack of preventive measures, which can be avoided with timely diagnosis and proper care.

At the conclusion of the event, the Deputy Commissioner, DPO and Assistant Commissioner jointly distributed certificates of appreciation among students for their outstanding contributions. Finally, as part of an ongoing plantation campaign, the guests also symbolically planted saplings in the college’s green space to promote environmental responsibility.
