Security plan for Muharram-ul - Haram issued by DIGP

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) A comprehensive security plan has been issued for Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 Hijri (2026) across the Shaheed Benazirabad Range on the directives of DIGP Faisal Bashir Memon. The plan aims to ensure peaceful observance of religious activities throughout the three districts of the range: Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, and Naushahro Feroze. According to official details, a total of 8,714 police personnel would be deployed to perform security duties during Muharram. The arrangements cover 146 imambargahs, 1,008 religious gatherings (majalis), 368 mourning processions, and 50 tazia processions across the region. Additional personnel would be stationed at 15 sensitive locations to maintain strict security.

In Shaheed Benazirabad, 3,347 police officers and personnel have been assigned to secure 31 imambargahs, 319 majalis, 59 mourning processions, and 39 tazia processions. In Sanghar, 2,698 personnel would be deployed for the security of 74 imambargahs, 591 majalis, and 201 mourning processions.

Meanwhile, in Naushahro Feroze, 2,669 personnel would be responsible for safeguarding 41 imambargahs, 98 majalis, and 108 mourning processions. DIGP Faisal Bashir Memon has directed all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to personally supervise security arrangements in their respective districts. He emphasized the importance of maintaining interfaith harmony and ensuring law and order by keeping a close watch on miscreant elements. Strict enforcement of Loudspeaker Act and a complete ban on dissemination of hate material have also been ordered. Police patrolling and surveillance will be intensified, and checking at both internal and external entry points of cities will be made more effective. DIGP has also appealed public to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to help maintain peace during Muharram.
