DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The authorities in Dera Ismail Khan have finalized comprehensive security and civic arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, with officials directed to ensure uninterrupted public services and maintain strict vigilance to facilitate the peaceful observance of religious gatherings and processions across the district.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Dera Division, Dawood Khan held here at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall.
Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah attended the meeting along with senior officials of the district administration and police, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Assistant Commissioners of Dera, Paharpur and Kulachi, and representatives of Rescue 1122, TMA, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC), DHQ Hospital, Health Department, PESCO and the Communication and Works (C&W) Department.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation and assessed arrangements related to security, healthcare services, sanitation, provision of clean drinking water, electricity supply and other essential public services during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Dawood Khan directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure maximum facilitation for mourners. He stressed the importance of foolproof security measures along procession routes and at Majalis venues, while instructing all agencies to remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency.
Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah instructed officials to deploy medical teams and ambulance services at processions and religious gatherings, ensure the availability of drinking water and sanitation facilities, and maintain an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout Muharram.
He emphasized that the protection of life and property remained the district administration's top priority and warned that negligence in the performance of duties would not be tolerated.
Following the meeting, the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and other officials inspected the District Nerve Centre established at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, where they reviewed monitoring and coordination arrangements put in place for Muharram-ul-Haram.
