PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Security arrangements in the Red Zone here have been further strengthened due to rising security concerns, with authorities deciding to conduct a comprehensive security audit of sensitive government installations.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at the Central Police Office in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed.
During the meeting, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed briefed participants on security measures related to the Red Zone, including monitoring of entry and exit points, protection of sensitive installations and emergency response mechanisms.
According to police officials, walk-through gates will be installed at all entry points of the Red Zone.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Additional police personnel and sniffer dogs will also be deployed to monitor suspicious individuals and strengthen surveillance in the area.
The Inspector General stated that foolproof security of all important government buildings and installations would be ensured to effectively deal with any untoward incident or emergency situation. He further directed authorities to improve vehicle monitoring through CCTV cameras and modern checking and detection equipment, while aligning all security arrangements with contemporary security requirements to counter any potential threats promptly.
The meeting was also attended by Additional IG Operations Muhammad Ali Babakhel, Headquarters Officer Abbas Ahsan, CTD official Jawad Qamar, DG PCU Shaukat Abbas, and DIG Security Qasim Ali Khan.
