Security arrangements reviewed for Youm-i-Shahadat Hazrat Ali in Sanghar

sanghar Mar 05 (APP) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 5th Mar, 2026) A meeting to review security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Youm-i-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA) was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sarah Javed and SSP Abid Baloch.

The meeting was attended by the additional deputy commissioner, assistant commissioners, officials of the health department, municipal committee and Rescue 1122, as well as representatives of the Shia community and other schools of thought.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Javed directed officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements for religious gatherings and processions to be held in connection with the day.

SSP Baloch informed the meeting that strict monitoring of all entry and exit points of the district was being carried out. In view of the prevailing national and international security situation, he said, law enforcement agencies must remain more vigilant than ever. He added that thorough checking at venues of religious gatherings, installation of walkthrough gates and effective use of CCTV cameras would be ensured.

He also urged religious scholars to form volunteer teams comprising local residents to help identify any suspicious or unfamiliar individuals.

The deputy commissioner directed the health department to enforce emergency services at hospitals to deal with any untoward incident, while Rescue 1122 teams were asked to remain on high alert. Municipal authorities were instructed to ensure proper sanitation, functioning streetlights and adequate water supply along procession routes.

Speaking at the meeting, Lt Col Mohammad Ayaz of the 41 Wing said that through mutual cooperation and timely sharing of information, the designs of anti-state elements could be thwarted.

Ms Javed emphasised that the district administration, police, religious leaders and other institutions should work together to ensure a peaceful and secure environment. She also cautioned participants to remain vigilant against propaganda on social media and advised immediate contact with the control room in case of any emergency.

The meeting also decided to strictly implement the code of conduct to maintain law and order. On the occasion, Federation of Commerce President Malik Sher Mohammad and Vice President Haji Yamin alias Haji Lalo assured the administration and religious leaders of full cooperation on behalf of the traders.
