KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) The Deputy Commissioner of Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz, has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to restrict unauthorized activities posing risks to public safety and the environment, officials said on Friday.

According to an official notification, the district administration has banned illegal placer gold mining and excavation activities in residential areas, citing environmental damage and potential threats to public safety. The order will remain in force for 60 days, and violations will be punishable under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

In a separate directive, authorities have also prohibited the sale, purchase and transport of petroleum products in open containers such as bottles and gallons for unauthorized use. The move aims to prevent misuse of flammable materials and reduce safety hazards across the district.

Copies of the orders have been forwarded to the Chief Secretary, police officials, Assistant Commissioners and Tehsil Municipal Officers for strict enforcement. The administration has warned that violators will face legal action under relevant laws to ensure compliance and public safety.
