Section 144 imposed in Abbottabad to ensure peaceful conduct of AIOU exams

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, on Tuesday imposed Section 144 in the district to ensure peaceful and transparent conduct of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Autumn 2025 final examinations.

The measure was taken at the request of the Controller of Examinations of AIOU. Under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898, the Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad has banned all kinds of gatherings within a 200-yard radius of the examination centers.

This restriction applies to the AIOU Regional Campus on Murree Road near the board Office Abbottabad and the Government Degree College for Boys Havelian. The order came into effect on March 2, 2026, and would remain in force until May 11, 2026.

Violators would be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The district administration has urged citizens to fully cooperate with authorities to maintain peace and order during the examinations.
