Secretary reviews administrative, financial affairs of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Department Abdul Rauf Baloch reviewed the administrative, financial, and development affairs of the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta.

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch to strengthening local governance in line with the public-friendly vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Khan Bugti and the provincial government’s commitment.

The meeting was attended by Administrator Mujeeb ur Rehman Qambrani, Secretary Local Government board Shujaat Ali, senior officials including Waheed Badini, Taha Jeend, Assistant Director Nazar Khan Zehri, the Chief Metropolitan Officer (CMO), and other officers from the Local Government Department and the corporation.

Officials presented a detailed briefing on the corporation’s performance, covering administrative affairs, financial management, ongoing development projects, and civic services.

Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch emphasized the need to improve sanitation systems, timely delivery of municipal services, and enhancement of civic facilities. He stressed that providing a clean and healthy environment is a fundamental responsibility of the corporation and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.

The meeting reviewed progress on the Safa Quetta sanitation initiative, discussing challenges and future plans.

The secretary directed officials to make the project more effective to significantly improve cleanliness across the city.

Participants examined the status of grant-in-aid funds, stressing transparent utilization and prioritization of urban services, sanitation, and timely completion of development projects.

Administrative matters concerning the chief officers of four newly established towns under the corporation were also discussed, with emphasis on transparency and accountability.

The session addressed delays in official correspondence and pending matters. Proposals were considered for modern sanitation machinery procurement, service rule formulation, and committee establishment to review legal and administrative operations.

Employee issues, including salary and pension matters, were discussed. Proposals included a 10 percent ad-hoc relief allowance, a 7 percent pension increase, and annual increments. Human Resource data was also reviewed to ensure effective manpower utilization.

Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch directed authorities to strengthen sanitation across Quetta and take emergency measures to clear accumulated waste. He reiterated that funds must be used transparently and projects completed within deadlines, reaffirming the department’s commitment to the chief minister’s directives for improved municipal services and stronger local governance.
