Secretary Energy inspects hydropower projects in Upper Dir, warns against delays

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Secretary Energy and Power Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nisar Ahmad on Thursday visited Upper Dir district to inspect ongoing Mini Micro Hydropower Projects and directed officials to ensure their timely completion, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.

During the visit, he reviewed progress on multiple project sites under the supervision of PEDO, including facilities in Doog Payeen, Siabadarkani, Mianz Doog, Kalkot, Sheringal, Tapandy, Thal Malo, Babozoo, and Maina Doog.

He inspected key components such as powerhouses, pen-stocks, and switch-yards.

Accompanied by Project Director Faisal Dawar and other officials, the Secretary expressed concern over slow progress and suspension of work at some sites.

He stressed that completion of energy projects within stipulated time-lines remains a major challenge and must be addressed through strict monitoring and transparency.

Nisar Ahmad said the government is prioritizing provision of affordable and uninterrupted electricity, particularly in remote areas where Mini Micro Hydropower Projects are benefiting thousands of families.

He also met local community members and listened to their concerns, assuring them that all remaining projects would be completed as soon as possible with the availability of funds.

He directed the concerned authorities to expedite work to provide relief to the public during the summer season.
