Schools, colleges in IIOJK ordered shut until March 7 amid mass protests

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) In response to widespread protests across Indian-illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) sparked by the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the authorities have ruthlessly ordered a shutdown of all educational institutions until March 7, blatantly using the move to stifle dissent and prevent further

demonstrations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, IIOJK education Minister Sakina Itoo confirmed the closure in a media interview, saying, “We have decided to keep schools, colleges and universities closed till March 07.

She added that the government is monitoring the situation closely and will take the call of reopening of educational institutions only after assessing the ground situation in the territory.

The protests erupted across IIOJK following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday.

Over a dozen protesters were injured when Indian forces used teargas and baton charge on demonstrators in different parts of Srinagar. To prevent further protests, curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir.
