DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Dera Ismail Khan distributed scholarship cheques worth Rs 55.8 million among its top-performing students under the “Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa Scholarship Programme”.
The scholarship cheques were distributed among the SSC and HSSC students during a prestigious ceremony attended by Commissioner Dawood Khan and senior education officials.
Under the programme, 33 SSC 2023 students received the second installment of scholarships worth Rs 120,000 each, amounting to Rs 39.6 million, while nine HSSC students were awarded Rs 180,000 each, with a total value of Rs 16.2 million.
Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Dawood Khan said the nations that excel in education are the ones that achieve lasting progress and development. He termed the scholarship programme a revolutionary initiative by the provincial government aimed at encouraging talented students and supporting their educational journey.
The ceremony was attended by BISE Dera Chairman Professor Dr Ihsanullah, Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, Board's Secretary Dr Qayyum Nawaz, Controller Dr Qaiser Anwar, principals, parents and students.
Commissioner Dawood Khan praised the BISE Dera for promoting transparency in the examination system and creating opportunities for deserving students to move forward.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the younger generation would eventually take over the leadership of the country and therefore needed proper guidance and encouragement.
During the event, the commissioner also inaugurated the board’s newly launched newsletter by cutting the ribbon. He said the publication would help highlight the board’s positive activities and performance.
He further stated that despite limited resources, the provincial government was continuing efforts to promote education by providing free textbooks and other facilities to students studying in public institutions.
BISE Dera Chairman Professor Dr Ihsanullah said the scholarship cheques were being distributed among top position-holder students to motivate them towards further academic excellence. He added that the newly launched newsletter would present examination results and the board’s performance to the public.
He also highlighted various reforms introduced by the board, which were appreciated by the participants.
Controller Dr Qaiser Anwar said educational institutions play a nurturing role by accommodating even those students who cannot afford uniforms or fees, adding that strengthening educational institutions was essential for national development.
At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to Commissioner Dawood Khan and his assistant Sajjad Baloch by Chairman Professor Dr Ihsanullah.
