SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) The 1st International Conference on Integrative Research in Science, Society and Innovation (ICIRSSI-2026) opened at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur on Saturday, bringing together researchers from 11 countries to discuss interdisciplinary solutions for sustainable development.
Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, attending as chief guest, said education was the strongest foundation for peace, progress and youth empowerment in Sindh. He recalled SALU’s establishment as a gift from Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and pledged support for a solar energy scheme for the university.
HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, joining virtually as guest of eminence, said universities must lead national transformation through research, innovation and knowledge creation.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He praised SALU for hosting an international conference of global significance in a remote region and stressed that higher education should produce skilled, ethical problem solvers.
Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Altaf Ahmad Chachar said SALU had positively impacted over three million lives through education and social development.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk urged research to move beyond libraries into industries, policies and human lives, calling for problem solvers rather than just degree holders.
Scholars from Pakistan, Malaysia, Germany, China, Sweden, South Korea, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Iran and Hong Kong presented papers on AI ethics, public health, water scarcity and cross-border innovation.
