ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday heard appeals filed by the convicted members of the notorious Chhotu Gang, including its leader Ghulam Rasool, against their sentences.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan conducted the hearing.
During the proceedings, Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan observed that a two-member bench could not hear a death penalty case. At this point, Prosecutor Rao Akhtar Hussain informed the Court that the matter pertained to the well-known Chhotu Gang case.
Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan remarked that the Chhotu Gang had once been very notorious in Punjab, adding that the CCD had since eliminated the group.
He further noted that lawyer Imran, who had been contesting cases, was also taken away at one point.
Counsel for the accused, Sardar Usman, told the Court that he was representing members of the Chhotu Gang and that he was safe. He requested that the next hearing be fixed for Tuesday.
In a lighter exchange, Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan asked whether the request for a Tuesday hearing was based on “Istikhara.” The counsel responded that if not Tuesday, any other date could be fixed.
Subsequently, the Court adjourned further hearing of the case until April 7.
It may be noted that four convicts, including Chhotu Gang leader Ghulam Rasool, have filed appeals against their sentences.
