SAU hosts seminar on PM’s “Apna Ghar” housing scheme for government employees

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) An awareness seminar highlighting the benefits of the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s “Apna Ghar” housing program for government employees was held at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, in collaboration with the House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC).

The event was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Engr. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, while HBFC Regional Representative Sarfaraz Ahmed Saraz addressed participants as the key resource person.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal described the initiative as a significant welfare step for government employees, noting that access to secure housing directly contributes to improved quality of life and job satisfaction. He emphasized that such programs strengthen the financial stability of public servants and enhance their professional performance. He further stated that the university remains committed to facilitating its employees by providing timely information and guidance regarding beneficial government schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarfaraz Ahmed Saraz said the “Apna Ghar” program was a major relief-oriented initiative aimed at enabling government officers and employees, particularly those in low- and middle-income brackets, to own homes through affordable financing options.

He explained that the scheme offers convenient installment plans, simplified application procedures and flexible repayment structures designed to reduce the financial burden on public sector workers. He also briefed participants on eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and the overall application process.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Chairman of the Students-Teachers Engagement Program (STEP) highlighted that awareness sessions like this were essential for enabling government employees to make informed financial decisions. He remarked that promoting access to housing schemes within public institutions reflects a broader commitment to employee welfare and sustainable development.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where Sarfaraz Ahmed Saraz assured participants of HBFC’s continued support and guidance to help them avail themselves of the scheme. A large number of faculty members, officers and employees attended the session, expressing keen interest in benefiting from the program.
