SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The 80th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research board (ASRB) at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, concluded on Wednesday with key decisions, including recommending degrees for 63 postgraduate scholars and emphasizing research that delivers practical benefits to society.
Chaired by Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, the meeting endorsed 12 PhD and 51 MS/M.Phil candidates for degree awards and approved new research proposals from scholars across faculties.
Dr Khushk stressed adherence to HEC criteria, urging that research degrees align with projects offering tangible societal and national benefits.
He called for stronger scrutiny mechanisms and directed professors to actively secure research projects from chambers of commerce, HEC, and other funding bodies.
“We must link research to winning projects that can benefit society and the country,” Dr Khushk said, adding that impactful, project based research should address community problems.
The meeting was attended by senior professors, including Dr. Ameer Ali Khuhro, Dr. Maqsood Zia, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa
Mashori, and others, along with administrative officials such as Registrar Muhammad Hassan Halepoto and Controller of Examinations Saifuddin Pathan.
