SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, on Friday hosted a seminar to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, highlighting the role of academia and youth in strengthening bilateral ties.

Organized by the university’s Prime Minister’s Youth Development Council (PMYDC), the event brought together faculty, students and international guests to reflect on seven decades of strategic cooperation and mutual trust.

Delivering the keynote online, Dr. Lei, Deputy Director of the China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre, described the relationship as an “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and an “Iron Brothers” bond dating back to 1951. He credited the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for boosting regional connectivity, job creation, and energy projects, while reaffirming mutual support on core national issues.

Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi called the seminar a step toward “academic diplomacy,” urging students to view the partnership as a model of mutual respect and shared aspirations. He pledged more cross-cultural exchanges and joint research with Chinese institutions.

Prof. Dr. Mehmood Khan Laghari, Dean of Management Sciences, said academic engagement was key to preparing youth for roles in trade, investment, and diplomacy under CPEC. Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Abro of Media Studies stressed balanced storytelling to counter misinformation and highlight the partnership’s tangible benefits.

The seminar was moderated by Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, who also delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Akbar Ali of Harbin University of Technology, China, attended online, symbolizing growing academic linkages.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the enduring Pakistan China friendship and plans to expand student exchanges, research and cultural programs under CPEC and BRI.
