Saif-ul-Malook road restoration gains pace after winter closure

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi is making efforts to ensure improved access to tourist destinations across the province under the vision of “Tourism and Development.”

Lake Saif-ul-Malook, one of country’s most famous tourist attractions, remained closed for the last five months due to heavy snowfall, glaciers and harsh weather conditions.

Following improvement in weather, work on restoration of the access road to the lake has been accelerated.

Officials said that out of the total 11-kilometer road, around 5 kilometers have been cleared of snow and glaciers, while work on the remaining portion is in progress.

Located at altitude of 10,578 feet, the scenic spot is expected to reopen for tourists soon. Authorities expressed hope that the route would be fully restored within a week, enabling tourists to visit the area and boosting livelihood opportunities for local communities.
