SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) Superintendent Police Amir Mushtaq announced on Monday that the Safe City Sargodha project has led to a 69 percent reduction in heinous crimes,including dacoity,robbery and motorcycle theft, thanking to its modern monitoring system and integrated strategy.
He said the deployment of advanced technology has cut police response time from 25 minutes to 11 minutes.
So far,the system has traced 302 incidents, resulting in the arrest of 155 suspects and the filing of challans in 122 cases across various courts.
Providing an update on expansion plans,SP Amir Mushtaq stated that surveys of six tehsil headquarters in Sargodha have been completed with operations expected to commence this year.
Additional surveys were underway to extend the network to the Union Council level.
The SP highlighted that over 500 cameras installed at sensitive locations including schools,mosques,imambargahs, churches and major hospitals such as DHQ and Maula Bakhsh Hospital have been integrated into the Safe City system.
To further enhance public safety,more than 7,000 teachers have been registered on the Safe City mobile app, which features a panic button for immediate emergency communication.
The project also operates a virtual blood bank, registering over 1,500 donors and providing blood to 75 citizens in emergencies to date.
SP Amir Mushtaq added that joint efforts with the traffic police have improved traffic flow and compliance,contributing to a notable reduction in citywide congestion.
