LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Sabzazar Police on Wednesday recovered a decade-old amount of an elderly woman who teaches children the Holy Quran and had been awaiting the return of her money for the last ten years.
Police spokesman said that the elderly woman, Tasleem Akhtar, had paid Rs 1.8 million to a man, Haji Khushi, for the purchase of a plot, but the amount remained unpaid for a long period. Acting on the complaint, SHO Sabzazar Basharat Goraya took prompt action and pursued the case through reconciliation and legal proceedings.
He said that Rs 1.2 million had been recovered and handed over to the woman, while a stamped agreement had been executed for the remaining Rs 0.
6 million with a mutually agreed timeframe for payment.
The elderly woman appreciated the efforts of Sabzazar Police and offered prayers for the officials for helping her recover her hard-earned money after years.
SP Iqbal Town Dr Muhammad Umar commended SHO for his excellent performance, stating that along with curbing criminal elements, the police were also actively promoting community policing to address public grievances and provide timely relief to citizens.
