RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) on Thursday launched a division-wide anti-littering awareness campaign in government and private schools across all 22 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

According to an RWMC spokesperson, communication teams conducted activities in 22 tehsils spanning six districts, reaching thousands of students through lectures, awareness walks, pamphlet distribution and cleanliness drives, urging them to dispose of waste in bins and help keep their surroundings clean.

An anti-littering session was also organised at Government Girls High School Affendi Colony, where students and teachers were briefed on the importance of hygiene, proper waste disposal and civic responsibility. Classroom lectures highlighted the benefits of a clean environment, disease prevention and basic waste management principles.

Pamphlets were distributed among students, while a waste-picking activity was conducted on the school premises to provide practical training. An awareness walk involving students and staff followed, during which participants pledged to uphold cleanliness.

Chief Executive Officer of RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar said the objective of the chief minister’s Clean Punjab programme was to establish an effective and sustainable sanitation system across the province.

“Creating awareness among children is our top priority, as they will grow into responsible citizens and contribute to a cleaner society,” he said, adding that school-level campaigns help foster positive attitudes and lay the foundation for an anti-littering culture.

He said RWMC would continue awareness initiatives in educational institutions, markets and residential areas across the division to turn the vision of a “Clean Punjab” into reality.
