'Rule of law essential for strong democratic institutions, youth must embrace integrity and discipline'

HARIPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Legal experts, educators and youth representatives have stressed the importance of civic awareness, ethical leadership and social responsibility during a youth-focused seminar held at the University of Haripur (UH) here Wednesday with the participation of more than 300 law students.

The seminar was organized by Metrix Pakistan in collaboration with the University’s Department of Law, District Youth Office Haripur and IPCiH Youth and Peace Society.

The event was supervised by Dr Saira Ali Khan, Head of the Department of Law, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of such academic forums in providing students with opportunities to learn from professionals associated with the legal and judicial sectors.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Asghar Shah Khalji spoke on the responsibilities of young lawyers, the importance of justice, constitutional values and public service. He said that the rule of law was essential for strengthening democratic institutions and urged students to pursue their careers with honesty, discipline and professional commitment.

Guest speaker Barkhana Hameed discussed judicial procedures, professional ethics and the challenges faced by the legal system. She advised the students to adopt a research-oriented approach in their studies and prepare themselves for responsible legal practice.

Representing Metrix Pakistan, Yasmin Nisar emphasized the need to provide constructive educational opportunities for youth to better understand their role in law, leadership and social development. She appreciated the support and cooperation of all partner institutions and participants.

The participants termed the seminar an informative and productive platform that enabled students to directly interact with judicial professionals and discuss current legal and social issues.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, distribution of certificates and appreciation for the organizers, speakers and volunteers for their contributions to the successful conduct of the programme.
