RTA cracks down on transporters for overcharging passengers in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and traffic police, carried out operations against transporters involved in overcharging passengers and overloading vehicles.

Following the directives of Commissioner Daoud Khan, RTA Secretary Shaukat Iqbal, along with a monitoring team and traffic police, carried out operations against passenger transport vehicles on multiple routes connecting Dera Ismail Khan with Paharpur, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, and Rawalpindi, including return journeys.

The strict action was taken against transporters involved in overcharging passengers and overloading vehicles.

During the crackdown, the officially approved new fare lists were displayed on vehicles, while violators were fined through traffic police. The authorities also thoroughly checked route permits to ensure compliance with regulations.

RTA secretary Shaukat Iqbal emphasized that protecting passengers’ rights remains a top priority and such operations would be continued without interruption. He urged upon the public to avoid paying fares above the approved rates and to report any complaints to RTA officials.
