DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) The district administration imposed fine totaling Rs220,000 on two dealers for hoarding and overcharging citizens during ongoing crackdown against profiteers here on Friday.
According to the administration, acting on the directives of the provincial government, Assistant Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan conducted an operation during which a dealer was fined Rs200,000 for illegally hoarding rice and sugar and concealing stock.
According to officials, the dealer was attempting to create artificial shortages in violation of government regulations.
In a separate action, another shopkeeper was fined Rs20,000 for selling gram flour (besan) at prices higher than the officially notified rates.
Authorities said that strict enforcement of government price controls would continue to ensure relief for the public.
The district administration warned that indiscriminate legal action will persist against those involved in hoarding, stock concealment, and profiteering to maintain market stability and ensure the availability of essential commodities at official prices.
