Rs1.9 billion spent on development schemes under Mohmand Dam CBMs: WAPDA

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has spent Rs1.9 billion on socio-economic development schemes in the Mohmand Dam project area under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, official sources said on Tuesday

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has spent Rs1.9 billion on socio-economic development schemes in the Mohmand Dam project area under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to details, a total of Rs4.5 billion has been allocated for 54 development schemes being executed as Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in consultation with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and local representatives. So far, 18 schemes have been completed in Phase-I, focusing on infrastructure, drinking water, health, education, sports, and electricity.

Officials said work is currently underway on several key projects, including the Abazai–Yousuf Baba Road and a drinking water supply scheme for Sappare Mulagori.

In addition, construction of five schools — three in Mohmand District, one in Bajaur, and one in Malakand — is set to begin soon, including both boys’ and girls’ Primary schools in different localities.

WAPDA General Manager/Project Director Fasih Ullah Paracha shared the update during a review meeting on CBMs, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (Planning and Development) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lt. (Retd) islam Zeb and attended by MNA Sajid Khan. Officials noted that the Mohmand Dam project will store 1.29 million acre-feet of water, generate 800 MW of low-cost electricity, and supply 300 million gallons of water per day to Peshawar for municipal use.
