Rs 9.9 billion underpasses approved to ease traffic on Peshawar Ring Road

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, a historic initiative has been launched to provide a permanent and effective solution to growing traffic congestion on the Peshawar Ring Road.

Under the project, state-of-the-art underpasses have been approved at five key intersections at an estimated cost of Rs 9,935.74 million. The initiative aims to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic pressure and ensure safe and smooth travel for the public.

The approved underpasses will be constructed at the following locations:

Detour Road–Ring Road Interchange (PDA Toll Plaza), Pishtakhara Chowk–Bara Road Ring Road Interchange,

Hazarkhwani Chowk–Hazarkhwani Road Ring Road Interchange, Jamil Chowk–Phindu Road Ring Road Interchange, and

Dallazak Chowk–Dallazak Road Ring Road Interchange.

The project is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow, reduce travel time and fuel consumption, and provide safer and more comfortable commuting facilities for citizens of Peshawar, contributing to improved urban infrastructure and quality of life in the provincial capital.
