DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jul, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Mekan visited the District Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) to review its performance and reaffirm police support for providing speedy, affordable and accessible justice to the public.
During the visit, the RPO was accompanied by District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed, DRC Secretary Muhammad Nawaz Mehsud and other council members.
The RPO was briefed on the council's performance over the past six months. The officials informed him that the DRC had received 99 applications during the period, successfully resolving 75 long-standing disputes through mutual reconciliation after concise hearings. Eleven cases were referred to the relevant legal forums for further proceedings, while special panels have been constituted to expedite the disposal of the remaining pending cases.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Ziauddin Ahmed said the DRC was playing a vital role in safeguarding human rights and ensuring prompt justice through fair and merit-based decisions. He noted that the council's effective mediation was gradually reducing the burden of cases on police stations and courts, and commended its members for their dedicated voluntary services.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Addressing the council members, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan praised their efforts in promoting reconciliation and social harmony, saying they were performing a noble responsibility by bringing people together and resolving disputes peacefully.
He urged the members to continue dispensing impartial justice, particularly to poor and vulnerable citizens, without fear or favour.
The RPO said one of the greatest strengths of the DRC was that it provided free and equal access to justice for all citizens, regardless of their social or financial status. He added that the police department was committed to expanding the DRC network so that more people could have their disputes resolved at their doorstep while fostering lasting peace and brotherhood in society.
He assured the council of the police's full cooperation.
At the end, the DRC chairman and secretary thanked the RPO and the DPO for their continued patronage and support, and honoured them with traditional turbans in recognition of their commitment to strengthening the council's role in community dispute resolution.
