SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Shahzad Asif Khan has said that patrolling and duty of police officials during rush hours should be increased to maintain traffic flow.
He directed that in case of any fatal accident, the traffic in-charge concerned should personally reach the spot and take immediate steps to reduce the number of accidents by determining the causes.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting on implementation of traffic rules. The meeting was attended by district police officers (DPOs) of all four districts of the region, SP Operations Safe City, Punjab Highway Patrol in-charge and Special Branch, as well as officers of the Highway, Transport and Rescue 1122 departments.
During the meeting, a comparative review of traffic accidents in urban and rural areas was conducted, in light of which instructions were issued to the Traffic Police and Punjab Highway Patrol Police to take precautionary measures within their respective limits.
The RPO Sargodha said that the pressure on roads has increased due to the increase in the number of vehicles; however, traffic flow can be maintained with better strategies. He further directed that strict legal action should be taken under the Pakistan Penal Code against the owners of vehicles that cause fatal accidents and repeatedly violate the laws.
In addition, where development projects are underway, alternative arrangements should be ensured in collaboration with the relevant institutions to avoid traffic jams.
