RPO dismisses, demotes police officials over corruption and negligence

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera has awarded major and minor penalties to several police officers and officials on charges of corruption, poor performance, negligence and abuse of powers.

Police spokesman Rizwan Bhatti said here on Thursday that the RPO during an orderly room personally heard show-cause notices of police officers and officials and decided their cases strictly on merit.

He said that Sub Inspector Ghazi Haq Nawaz was reduced in rank from Sub Inspector to Assistant Sub Inspector and subsequently dismissed from service.

Similarly, Assistant Sub Inspector Saba Hussain was demoted to the rank of Head Constable while Constable Muhammad Zeeshan Razaq was dismissed from service.

Meanwhile, Constable Qalab Abbas of Jhang district received an appreciation certificate in recognition of good performance, he added.

Addressing the meeting, RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera made it clear that corrupt, inefficient and irresponsible officials must mend their ways as the police department would not tolerate misconduct or abuse of powers.

He said that process of accountability would continue against those who bring disrepute to the police force while the officers showing outstanding performance would receive due encouragement.

The RPO also directed police personnel to treat visitors at police stations with courtesy and professionalism as public service is the foremost priority of police department.
