Rising highway robberies on Kotal Ghaakhi route alarm Kohat drivers

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Drivers and transporters in Kohat have voiced growing concern over an increase in highway robberies along the Kotal Ghaakhi route, describing the road as increasingly unsafe for commuters and commercial traffic, the local correspondent of APP reported this from Kohat on Thursday.

According to local transporters, armed robbers frequently intercept vehicles during early morning and late evening hours, snatching cash, mobile phones and other valuables from passengers and drivers. They said repeated complaints to authorities had so far failed to curb the incidents, leaving motorists vulnerable to criminal activity.

Drivers described the route as a “nightmare for motorists,” claiming that looting incidents were being reported almost daily. They urged authorities to take urgent steps to restore law and order and ensure the safety of commuters using the important link road.

Residents and members of the transport community appealed to Kohat Police to intensify patrolling, establish checkpoints and launch targeted operations against criminal groups involved in roadside robberies. They stressed that improved security was essential to maintain public confidence and uninterrupted travel in the area.
