Rickshaw drivers get easier access to licenses under special traffic drive in Chiniot

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the process of obtaining driving licences for rickshaw drivers has been significantly simplified under a special facilitation campaign in Chiniot.

According to officials, a dedicated counter has been established exclusively for rickshaw drivers, while the initiative is being supervised by DSP Traffic Khurram Shahzad. Authorities said the campaign aims to streamline the issuance and renewal of driving licences, including conversion from learner permits.

Under the special arrangement, Sundays have been reserved for rickshaw drivers to ensure convenient access without disrupting their routine work.

In addition, licensing services have also been extended to Bhowana, allowing local drivers to obtain documents within their own area.

Traffic police officials said beneficiaries of the campaign have welcomed the initiative, terming it a positive step towards improving road safety and legal compliance. They reiterated that driving without a valid licence is a punishable offence, urging citizens to complete their documentation and contribute to safer roads.
