Responsible use of AI essential for academic integrity: VC Hazara University

MANSEHRA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2026) Vice Chancellor of Hazara University, Professor Dr. Ikramullah Khan, on Tuesday said the responsible use of artificial intelligence was essential for maintaining academic integrity, urging students and teachers to use AI as a tool for innovation and research rather than for copying content.

He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural session of a two-day workshop, "Academic Writing in the Age of AI," organized by the Department of English at Hazara University.

The Vice Chancellor said AI had become an important part of modern education and research, but its use must comply with ethical and academic standards.

He warned that using AI-generated content without proper citation constituted academic misconduct and copyright infringement.

More than 100 students, faculty members, higher education professionals and education experts from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in the workshop. Experts from leading universities are conducting training sessions on the effective and ethical use of AI in research, academic writing, plagiarism prevention and the limitations of artificial intelligence.
