Resolution against Maulana Idress killing tabled in KP Assembly

A condemnation resolution has been tabled in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly against the brutal killing of the renowned religious scholar Maulana Idress on Tuesday

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) A condemnation resolution has been tabled in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly against the brutal killing of the renowned religious scholar Maulana Idress on Tuesday.

Maulana Idress was a former member of the provincial assembly, and provincial patron of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam as well as member of its central Majlis Shura.

The treasury and opposition members of the KP assembly expressed deep sorrow and grief over this tragic incident, describing it as a serious question mark on the law and order situation.

The resolution called on the KP government to immediately arrest those involved in the incident, bring them to justice, and ensure they receive appropriate punishment so that such crimes can be prevented in the future.

Assembly members also emphasized the need for effective and practical measures to avoid such incidents in the future.

The resolution was submitted by members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, including Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Rehana Ismail, Rabia Shaheen, Sajjadullah, Muhammad Riaz Shaheen, Aiman Jalil Jan, Nilofar Bibi, Napeeda Noor, Adnan Wazir, and Asma Alam, along with other members.
