PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jun, 2026) The residents of Peshawar on Sunday demanded that Commissioner Riaz Masud take immediate action against local Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) sellers who have arbitrarily hiked per kilogram rate of fuel.
The unchecked price surge has sparked widespread outrage across provincial capital, leaving citizens scrambling to afford a basic household necessity.
The sharp increase has been reported in various areas, including Dalazak Road, Supply Depot, Garibabad, Corporation Colony, Nuthia Jadid, and several neighborhoods inside walled city.
In these localities, price of LPG has skyrocketed from its previous rate of Rs. 310 kg with some dealers charging as much as Rs. 600 per kilogram. This sudden and massive inflation has placed an unbearable financial burden on citizenry.
Frustrated citizens pointed out that local authorities have completely failed to regulate market.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The public lamented that government neither enforces display of official price lists at shops nor conducts routine inspections to penalize violators.
This lack of administrative oversight has effectively given profiteers a free hand to exploit consumers without fear of legal consequences.
These areas are already suffering from a severe crisis of low Sui gas pressure, forcing residents to rely heavily on cylinder gas for cooking and heating. Taking advantage of this vulnerability, LPG dealers have artificially inflated the market.
The community has strongly urged district administration to intervene immediately. They have demanded that government fix a fair, standardized price and strictly obligate dealers to ensure supply of quality cylinder gas at official government rate.
