FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2026) District Emergency Officer (DEO) Rescue 1122 Engineer Ehtesham Wahla on Sunday urged the people to adopt preventive safety measures during monsoon season and said that timely precautions could reduce rain-related fatalities, injuries and damage to property.

In a public safety advisory, he stressed that preparedness before heavy rainfall was the most effective way to protect lives and minimize losses caused by seasonal downpours.

He advised homeowners to inspect and repair cracked roofs, weak walls and other vulnerable portions of their houses before the onset of heavy rains.

He also urged people to ensure proper cleaning of rooftop drainage systems, rainwater pipes and gutters to prevent water accumulation, which could weaken structures and increase the risk of roof collapse.

He cautioned citizens against climbing onto old or dilapidated rooftops unnecessarily during or after rainfall and warned that weakened structures could collapse without notice and lead to serious accidents.

Highlighting the dangers of electrocution during rainy season, Engineer Ehtesham Wahla advised the public never to touch electrical appliances, switches or exposed wiring with wet hands, particularly while barefoot, as the risk of electric shock increases under such conditions.

He further urged the people to stay away from exposed, hanging or fallen electricity wires and immediately inform the relevant power utility or Rescue 1122 if such hazards were noticed.

He said that prompt reporting of electrical dangers could help prevent fatal incidents and protect surrounding communities.

District Emergency Officer also called upon parents to educate their children about electrical hazards during the monsoon season, advising them to keep children away from electric poles, switchboards, electrical installations and waterlogged areas where hidden electrical currents may pose serious risks.

He said that public awareness, responsible behavior and timely preventive measures were essential for reducing emergencies during the monsoon season.

"Simple precautions taken before and during rainfall can save precious human lives and protect valuable property", he added.
