Rescue 1122 starts free transfer of mortal remains from Peshawar airport

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a special Rescue 1122 service to ensure dignified and

free transportation of mortal remains of deceased persons arriving from abroad to their native areas across

the province.

Provincial Minister for Relief Aqibullah Khan formally inaugurated the service at Bacha Khan International

Airport.

Under the initiative, mortal remains arriving from overseas will be transported free of cost from the airport

to any district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Rescue 1122 ambulances.

Special ambulances, a dedicated help desk and trained staff will remain available at the airport round-the-clock

to facilitate bereaved families and provide support during difficult times.

The initiative is aimed at easing hardships faced by families in transporting mortal remains of their loved ones

from the airport to their hometowns, officials said.
