RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Murree conducted special water rescue exercises at Rawal Dam as part of preparations for the upcoming pre-monsoon and monsoon season.
The drills were organized on the directives of Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
According to Rescue 1122, the prime objective of the exercises was to enhance the preparedness, rapid response capabilities, and professional skills of rescue personnel to effectively deal with possible flash floods, overflowing streams, landslides, and drowning incidents during the monsoon season.
During the drills, rescue teams practiced search and rescue operations in fast-flowing water, the use of rescue boats, life jackets, safety equipment, and rope rescue techniques to safely evacuate affected individuals to secure locations.
Officials also carried out a detailed inspection of all water rescue equipment and emergency machinery to ensure timely and effective response during any emergency situation.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Rescue 1122 Murree officials stated that all rescue teams would remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season, while special monitoring would continue at dams, waterfalls, streams, and other high-risk locations.
Additional personnel are also being deployed at tourist destinations to ensure immediate rescue response in case of any untoward incident.
Rescue authorities urged citizens and tourists to avoid bathing at unsafe locations, taking selfies near fast-flowing water, and approaching dangerous water channels. Parents were advised to keep a close watch on their children and follow precautionary measures in view of changing weather conditions to prevent accidents.
The Rescue 1122 department also appealed to the public to immediately contact the emergency helpline 1122 in case of any emergency.
