Rescue 1122 KP places emergency services on high alert ahead of heavy rains

Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has placed all district emergency services on high alert in view of the Pakistan Meteorological Department's forecast of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms across the province from July 24 to 27

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has placed all district emergency services on high alert in view of the Pakistan Meteorological Department's forecast of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms across the province from July 24 to 27.

According to a Rescue 1122 statement issued on Friday, Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad directed all district emergency services to remain fully prepared to respond promptly to any emergency situation.

Rescue personnel, water rescue teams, ambulance services, fire units and disaster response teams have been instructed to maintain operational readiness throughout the forecast period.

The Director General also directed all District Emergency Officers to ensure continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations, including rivers, streams, seasonal waterways and tourist destinations.

Additional rescue personnel and equipment have been kept ready for immediate deployment to affected areas if required.

The Met Office has warned of heavy rainfall in the upper districts, including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad, where landslides and flash floods in local streams are likely. Rain, strong winds and lightning may also trigger emergencies in other parts of the province.

Rescue 1122 advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, refrain from crossing flooded roads, rivers and seasonal streams, keep children away from waterways, stagnant water and open pits, and stay clear of weak buildings, electricity poles, trees and signboards during strong winds.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi urged citizens to immediately call the emergency helpline 1122 in case of any emergency so that rescue teams could reach the affected area without delay and carry out timely relief operations.
