Rescue 1122 issues GLOF alert for Upper Districts; handles 98 emergencies in a week

LOWER DIR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) District Emergency Service Rescue 1122 on Monday issued a high alert warning for Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF), flash floods and landslides in upper districts including Chitral Upper and Lower, Swat, Dir Upper, Kohistan Upper and Mansehra amid heavy rainfall in the region.

The emergency service has appealed to citizens and tourists to avoid unnecessary movement near streams, rivers and mountainous areas, and contact helpline 1122 immediately in case of any emergency.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 Lower Dir responded to 98 emergencies during the past week, providing timely rescue services to 95 injured persons and patients.

The emergencies comprised 41 medical cases, seven road traffic accidents, three fire incidents and 10 recovery operations besides other emergency situations.

Additionally, 37 patients were shifted to various hospitals within and outside the district, said District Emergency Officer Sanaullah.
