GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) The Punjab Emergency Service Gujrat said in its six-month performance report that Rescue-1122 responded to 19,935 emergency calls during the first six months of 2026, providing rescue and medical assistance to 20,800 patients with an average response time of 6.25 minutes.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, the performance report, released under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman, showed that the service handled 8,571 medical emergencies, 5,158 road traffic accidents, 2,481 rescue operations, 2,266 inter-hospital patient transfers, 841 fall incidents, 329 fire emergencies, 254 crime-related emergencies, 20 drowning incidents, eight building collapse incidents and seven other emergencies between January 1 and June 30.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The report stated that 7,856 patients were provided first aid at the scene, while 10,338 critically injured persons were shifted to hospitals after receiving emergency medical care. It added that 341 people died either at the scene or while being transported to hospitals.
District Emergency Officer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman said Rescue 1122 personnel remained on high alert round the clock to protect the lives and property of citizens. He urged the public to call the 1122 helpline only in genuine emergencies, avoid unnecessary calls and give way to emergency vehicles to help rescuers reach incident sites without delay.
