Rawalpindi Police hold flag march; over 9,000 personnel secure Juma-tul-Wida, Youm-e-Quds

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) The Rawalpindi Police on Friday conducted a flag march across the city as more than 9,000 officers and personnel ensured security on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida (last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramazan) and Youm-e-Quds.

The flag march, held on the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob. Divisional superintendents of police, sub-divisional police officers and station house officers, along with personnel of the Dolphin Force, Traffic Police and Elite Force, participated in the exercise.

According to a police spokesman, the march started from the Police Lines Headquarters and passed through major roads and key areas of the city, demonstrating the Rawalpindi Police’s resolve to maintain law and order. Comprehensive arrangements remained in place for Juma-tul-Wida prayers and Youm-e-Quds events, with more than 9,000 officers and personnel guarding mosques and Imambargahs, and over 200 assigned to the Youm-e-Quds rally.

Senior police officers remained in the field to monitor personnel performing security duties, while strict precautionary measures, including body searches before entry to mosques and Imambargahs, were ensured. Search, sweep and combing operations were carried out in and around sensitive areas.

In view of the prevailing situation, the Rawalpindi Police and the Islamabad Police also established joint special pickets at key locations, with a large number of officers deployed.

CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani said protection of citizens’ lives and property remained the Rawalpindi Police’s top priority and added that all available resources were being utilised to ensure effective arrangements for the peaceful observance of Juma-tul-Wida and the holding of the Youm-e-Quds rally.
