RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) The Rawalpindi Police continued a crackdown against individuals violating the Tenancy Act, registering seven cases and taking 18 persons into custody, a spokesman said Thursday.
The operations, carried out on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, were conducted in the jurisdictions of Waris Khan, New Town, Ganjmandi and Race Course police stations.
The CPO said the crackdown, part of ongoing efforts to enforce the Tenancy Act under the National Action Plan, included daily search operations across the city.
He added that failure to register tenants is a punishable offence.
According to police records, so far this year 408 cases have been registered under the Act and 518 individuals taken into custody for violations.
The CPO urged citizens to ensure tenants are properly registered to maintain law and order. Registration can be completed at the relevant police station, police service centre, or via the Punjab Police mobile app. Citizens are also encouraged to report violations to the nearest police station; identities will be kept confidential.
