Rawalpindi Bar expresses solidarity with armed forces amid border tensions

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) The District Bar Association Rawalpindi on Thursday expressed solidarity with the armed forces, stating that the legal fraternity stood firmly with the country’s defence institutions in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a joint statement, President District Bar Association District Bar Association Rawalpindi Malik Tariq Mahmood Sajid Awan and General Secretary Qamar-ul-Haq Khan Niazi said the entire legal community of Pakistan, particularly Rawalpindi Bar, stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and would continue to do so for the defence of the motherland.

Malik Tariq Mahmood Sajid Awan on Friday said, in the context of the prevailing situation along the Pak-Afghan border, it was necessary to make it clear that there could be no compromise on Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and protection of its citizens. Like every sovereign state, Pakistan had the right to defend its borders and protect its people from terrorism, he added.

He said when evidence emerged that elements of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan from across the border, it became imperative for state institutions to respond effectively. Action against terrorism was not aggression against any country but a legal and moral duty to safeguard citizens, he maintained.

General Secretary Qamar-ul-Haq Khan Niazi said Pakistan’s armed forces and other security institutions had demonstrated professionalism and responsibility by targeting terrorist hideouts. He said the forces had always taken precautions to avoid harm to civilian population, reflecting the conduct of a responsible state.

He said Pakistan desired peace, but its desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness. He added that ensuring national security and border stability must remain paramount and expressed hope that sustainable regional peace would be achieved through mutual respect and serious diplomatic efforts.
