Ramzan price control drive intensifies: 47 FIRs, 117 shops sealed

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan has said that, in line with the zero-tolerance policy and special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, price control magistrates are actively working in the field to ensure maximum relief for the public during Ramzan.

Highlighting the ongoing enforcement drive, the Deputy Commissioner stated that on the 12th of Ramzan alone, price control magistrates conducted 1,476 inspections across the district. During the inspections, 27 instances of overcharging were detected, and violators were fined a total of Rs174,000.

She added that the district administration has adopted a strict approach against profiteers.

Legal action was initiated, with two cases registered, while 13 shops and business centers were searched during the crackdown.

Providing cumulative figures, Ayesha Rizwan said that since the start of Ramzan, a total of 13,589 inspections have been carried out. As many as 373 violations were recorded, resulting in fines amounting to Rs2.013 million. Furthermore, 47 FIRs have been registered, 117 shops sealed, and 47 individuals arrested as part of the ongoing campaign.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s resolve to continue the crackdown against hoarders and profiteers to ensure the availability of essential commodities at government-prescribed rates.
