PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The moon for the holy month of Ramazan has been sighted, and the first fast in Pakistan will be observed tomorrow, February 19.
Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, announced the sighting of the moon here on Wednesday night.
Talking to the media, Maulana Khabir said that the Ramazan moon has been seen in different parts of Pakistan, adding Thursday, February 19, 2026, will be the 1st of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak 1447 Hijri.
The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Peshawar today and was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
The meeting was attended by Director General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hafiz Abdul Qudoos, SUPARCO representative Shaukatullah, Meteorological Department representative Dr Hassan Ali Baig, and Zain-ul-Abideen from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In addition to Peshawar, meetings of zonal committees were also held in the Federal capital, Islamabad and other provincial capitals.
According to Mufti Ateeq-ur-Rehman, member of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the first five testimonies of moon sighting were received from Upper Dir.
Six testimonies were also received from District Mohmand by the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Peshawar.
According to Mufti Ateeq-ur-Rehman, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee received a total of 40 testimonies.
Before the meeting, Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad appealed to the public to sight the moon of Ramazan and said that Ramazan will begin simultaneously across the country this year as well.
