ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Division, Raja Osama Sarwar on Thursday welcomed the increase in defence spending in the Federal budget 2026-27, saying enhanced allocations were necessary to address regional security challenges, strengthen border protection and support the modernization of the armed forces.
Taking part in the budget debate in the National Assembly (NA), he said the government had presented the budget amid difficult regional and global circumstances, including economic pressures and geopolitical tensions, while also providing relief to the public and taking measures to curb tax evasion.
He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the finance team and the military leadership for steering the country through challenging times and strengthening Pakistan’s position both domestically and internationally.
Raja Osama said repeated attempts by hostile forces to destabilize Pakistan had been thwarted through the collective efforts of the government, armed forces and national institutions.
He maintained that the nation stood firmly behind its armed forces and paid tribute to the people of his region for their sacrifices in defence of the country.
The parliamentary secretary also highlighted development needs in his constituency, comprising Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan tehsils.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the areas required urgent investment in gas supply, higher education, healthcare and water infrastructure.
Calling for the establishment of a university and implementation of water supply projects in Murree, he noted that the hill station attracted visitors from across Pakistan and abroad and therefore needed improved civic facilities.
He also sought the provision of natural gas and administrative facilities in Kotli Sattian, saying the tehsil had recently been declared a tourism hub and was experiencing increased development activity.
Raja Osama welcomed the approval of the Kahuta-Kashmir Road project by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and urged the government to ensure its timely completion.
He further called for the establishment of a modern university in Kallar Syedan and stressed the importance of completing the Rawat-Kallar Syedan dual carriageway project to improve connectivity and support economic growth.
Reaffirming his commitment to serving the people, he expressed confidence that the government’s development agenda would help address the needs of underserved regions and contribute to national progress and prosperity.
