Rain in Islamabad: DC directs ACs to inspect areas as drainage teams deployed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Rain continued in several parts of the Federal capital, prompting the district administration to activate field teams and monitor the situation across the city.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon directed all Assistant Commissioners to visit their areas and review conditions on the ground while sanitation teams were mobilized to ensure the flow of rainwater.

According to the spokesman of district administration, rain was recorded in different sectors of Islamabad during the day. Following the rainfall, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all Assistant Commissioners to move to the field and observe the situation in their respective areas. The officers were asked to keep a close watch on roads, streets, and residential sectors to ensure that rainwater does not create problems for residents.

Special monitoring has been ordered for low-lying areas and drainage channels. The district administration stated that these locations usually face water accumulation during rainfall, therefore field staff have been directed to remain present

in such areas and report any issue without delay.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon also ordered sanitation teams to start drainage work without waiting for complaints. Municipal staff were mobilized to remove rainwater from roads and streets so that traffic flow and daily activities continue without interruption.

Officials said that the district administration control system is active and officers are sharing updates from the field. Assistant Commissioners have been instructed to coordinate with sanitation teams and other departments if any blockage in drains or water accumulation is reported.

The Deputy Commissioner is personally monitoring the rain situation across Islamabad. Field officers have been directed to stay in their areas until the rain ends and normal conditions are restored.

The district administration stated that the purpose of these steps is to keep roads clear, prevent water buildup, and respond quickly if any problem arises due to the ongoing rainfall.
