Railways orders survey of all buildings after Lahore roof collapse

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) Divisional Superintendent Muhammad Khalid Khan has ordered a comprehensive survey and detailed inspection of all Pakistan Railways service buildings, residential quarters and other railway structures following the recent roof collapse at a private tuition center in Kahna,Lahore.

According to the directive,the inspection was to be carried out on an urgent basis with particular focus on assessing the structural condition of roofs and other critical components to identify potential safety hazards.

The divisional superintendent directed officials to ensure immediate repairs to buildings requiring maintenance.

Structures found to be unsafe or posing a threat to human life were to be declared hazardous with action taken in accordance with the rules,including the evacuation of occupants where necessary.

Emphasizing that the safety of railway employees,residents and the public remains the top priority,Khan instructed all concerned officers to complete the inspection and remedial work without delay and ensure strict compliance with the directives issued by the Chief Engineer.
