LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Friday issued several directions aimed at improving facilities at railway stations and on trains across the country.
He chaired a meeting at the Pakistan Railways Headquarters where officials gave him a detailed briefing on the provision of facilities for passengers at railway stations and aboard trains.
During the meeting, the minister directed that uniform benches be installed at railway stations throughout the country to ensure better comfort and convenience for passengers. He also instructed officials to outsource the cleaning of other railway stations on the pattern of Lahore and Karachi in order to maintain higher standards of cleanliness.
Muhammad Hanif Abbasi further directed that Awam Express, Allama Iqbal Express and Sukkur Express be upgraded by June 30. He also ordered improvements in the rake of Hazara Express to enhance passenger facilities.
The minister said that security and monitoring would also be strengthened, adding that cameras will be installed in Green Line, Shalimar Express and Pak business Express by April 15.
Later, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Punjab Ali Dar met with the Railways Minister. During the meeting, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi briefed the adviser on various railway development projects.
Both sides also discussed other matters of mutual interest during the meeting.
