QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Quetta Police have intensified operations against criminal elements as part of a broader effort to improve law and order and ensure public safety ahead of Ramazan, officials said Thursday.

According to a spokesperson for Balochistan Police, the campaign was launched on the directives of Inspector General Muhammad Tahir and overseen by DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat and SSP Operations Muhammad Asif Khan.

Over the past three months, police recovered four cars, 56 motorcycles, and 14 mobile phones, while 116 suspects were arrested in connection with theft, snatching, and other crimes.

Police said the crackdown particularly focused on motorcycle-snatching groups. Acting on a pre-Ramazan strategy, law enforcement foiled several attempted robberies, arrested suspects, and recovered stolen motorcycles.

Operations faced resistance, with suspects opening fire on police officers. As a result, five policemen were injured, while police retaliatory fire left two motorcycle snatchers dead and 29 suspects wounded. Officials noted that suspects often resort to firing to evade arrest.

Authorities urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to police control rooms at 9202555, 9202777, or via the emergency helpline 15.

Police, in coordination with the district administration, have deployed additional personnel at mosques, Imambargahs, markets, and public places to ensure citizens can worship and shop safely.

Security tightened during Friday prayers and religious gatherings and 116 officers were deployed specifically for Taraweeh prayers.

Enhanced patrols in sensitive areas and special checking of suspicious individuals.

With heavy crowds expected during Iftar and Sehri, authorities deployed 200 additional personnel, including traffic police, mobile squads, motorcycle patrols, and foot patrols.

Traffic police have implemented a special plan to maintain smooth flow on major roads and CCTV monitoring is in place at key locations.

Rapid response teams are on standby for emergencies.

Balochistan Police appealed to the public to cooperate fully with security agencies and report any suspicious activity to ensure Ramadan remains peaceful and secure across the city.
